Healing – and Death – Move Parents in Africa toward Christ

A young mother in Africa had gone to a series of traditional healers, each with their fetishes and incantations to tribal gods, in a desperate quest to heal her son. He was 3 years old and had never been able to walk. She heard about a meeting at a nearby community where villagers studied the Bible. In her sub-Saharan country unidentified due to local opposition to the gospel, both the healing and the deaths of children recently moved parents to seek Christ.

Help Lead People to the Lord in Burundi

In an area where most villagers practice traditional religions, local missionaries established a base for visiting homes with the message of salvation in Christ. After one such visit, a mother with three young children received Christ as Lord and Savior, and she has grown in faith in small group prayer and Bible study. Workers request prayer for her, as her unbelieving husband is in prison, and one of her children recently died. In various areas, local missionaries recently led 152 people to faith in Christ. Donations are sought for such gospel proclamation and discipleship throughout the country. Pray that the experience of God’s grace will move His children to drink deeply of His Word.

Help Provide the Word of Life in Tanzania

Native missionaries are training new believers how to form and teach other disciples, advancing God’s kingdom amid hostile spiritual forces. Miraculous healings at evangelistic events opened many hearts to the gospel, and the message also sounded forth as workers visited people in homes, hospitals and small group meetings. In spite of COVID-19 restrictions, local missionaries were able to plant five churches over the course of six months. Donations are sought for such gospel proclamation and follow-up. Pray that workers will walk in the power and protection of the Holy Spirit.

Help Plant and Grow Churches in Ghana

A community that practiced idolatry before local missionaries led many youths to the Lord has recently seen older adults also come to faith in Christ. Seniors that used to believe church was only for young people are now attending worship services, and workers are guiding the young people to grow in their faith as they obtain jobs and start families as adults. Having recently planted five churches, local missionaries have discipled 85 new Christians in Bible study and prayer. Workers need donations to carry out such evangelism and discipleship. Pray that grace will pervade all interaction among church members.

Foster Gospel Transformation in Ivory Coast

As people in some villages left ill will and vice since coming to the Lord, officials in other areas have taken notice and have requested that local missionaries come and teach about Christ. The native ministry is training 50 pastors in order to keep up with such requests. Bringing the word of grace in one-on-one talks, Jesus Film screenings and evangelistic events, workers recently planted six churches. Local missionaries need donations of $60 or $120 in order to carry out such evangelism and discipleship. Pray that strong leaders will emerge to guide new churches with solid teaching.

Unleash Gospel Proclamation in North Africa

A local missionary led a woman and her three children to Christ, and she and her kids began sharing the gospel with relatives and others. One of their neighbors also accepted Christ when one of their family members was healed of a debilitating illness following local missionaries’ prayer. In spite of persecution, workers continued to proclaim the Lord’s salvation in person and through social media; about 300 people showed interest in learning more after each broadcast of the ministry’s church service. Local missionaries need donations to undertake such gospel proclamation and discipleship. Pray that closed churches will be allowed to re-open.

Help Plant Churches in Togo

Local missionaries took the gospel to a village that was in bondage to unclean spirits. Two village women saw demonic images day and night and couldn’t sleep, but they were delivered from these attacks after workers led them to faith in Christ. Nearly everyone else in the village came to saving faith, were cured of mysterious diseases and abandoned their voodoo practices. Churches there and in another area were planted through home visits, seminars and Bible studies, and workers need donations of $25 or $50 to undertake such evangelism and discipleship. They request prayer that those with whom they share the gospel will hear with wisdom and understanding.

Suicidal Mother in North Africa Fights Spiritual Battle

Heba was rescued before she could end her life, condemning the 32-year-old mother in northern Africa to continue in a misery whose sources she did not fully understand. An affair with a younger man blunted the pain at times but soon compounded it, further toxifying problems with her husband. “I was living a miserable life filled with sadness, failure and problems,” she said.

Provide Gospel Tools and Training in Africa

In an area known for alcohol, drugs and crime, local missionaries began sharing the gospel with young people, and 11 youths showed up at the native ministry’s church, confessed their sins and accepted Christ. Discipling them and other young people, workers saw amazing growth, and the 11 former delinquents were baptized. At evangelistic events that took place over a six-month span, local missionaries praised God that more than 75 people put their faith in Christ. Workers need donations of $60 or $120 for the tools, training and means to proclaim Christ and follow-up with new believers. Pray the Lord will break down barriers to expand His kingdom.

Transform Communities in Nigeria

Villagers used to walk more than seven miles to get water before local missionaries provided borehole wells for the community, which has brought good health. A vocational program that includes training health workers and traditional birth attendants has also fostered good will, and the village chief called residents together so local workers could talk to them about God; the message was well-received. In this area and three others, local missionaries provided borehole wells that serve more than 21,000 people and began planting churches. Donations are sought for such community engagement projects. Pray the Lord would protect His people amid many dangers.

In a country in the Middle East, a young Muslim man recently passed by a local ministry’s church site and picked up a New Testament from the stack outside. “He took it home, secretly read from it and hid it, because he feared what his family might do to him,” the ministry leader said. The 22-year-old Muslim had no idea his older brother was also secretly exploring Christianity.

An 11-year-old boy in Mexico had trouble socializing, and his father was addicted to drugs, so local missionaries seeking to help him had persuaded his mother to let him live at their educational center living quarters. Workers noticed some alarming drawings in his notebook. The sketches made it clear the boy was suicidal.

A refugee from Syria told local missionaries in Iraq that he had dreamt of a group of Christians visiting his house and telling him pleasant things that he could not now recall. He said he was a Muslim officer in the Syrian army who had fled when enemy soldiers occupied his home. “I remember when I woke up, I had a wonderful peace and joy that I had never experienced before,” he told them. “Can you visit us at home?”

A Syrian widow with several children had endured affliction before and after arriving as a refugee in Jordan. Islamic State (ISIS) invaders in Syria had seized her oldest son and, fearing they might take her other children, she and her husband had fled in 2013. Some of her children were able to help her husband in odd jobs he might find on the streets – until he was diagnosed with cancer.

A series of murders of children and young women prompted a three-day prayer event in a town in western Kenya. Church members and community leaders were praying for safety when a young man burst in and confessed to raping and killing six young women. The local missionaries and other leaders prayed for deliverance and salvation as the man’s anguished cries drew more people to the meeting tent – including some bent on lynching him and burning his body.

Accompanied by police and soldiers, a district official in Laos told Christians in a tribal village that those who refused to renounce Christ would be imprisoned. He was angry that they had refused to heed a prior warning to quit worshiping Christ. “Christianity is a western religion – it cannot be practiced in our country,” he told them. “I will give you one more chance to renounce Christ. If anyone still wants to believe in God, then just raise your hand.”

A shaman in Indonesia had quit his life as a robber and drug seller five years ago, but he still had no peace. Deeply troubled, he invited a worker and others from the ministry to his house to talk with him and his family about Christ. When the local missionaries showed up, they found 40 people at the house.

A young man in Iraq, Sami, and his father were descended from multiple generations of historic Christians, but during occupation by Islamist militants they had been forcibly converted to Islam. Such converts have trouble showing loyalty to a new caliphate, often refusing to join the fight to establish and expand it. Both men were subjected to torture; Sami told native missionaries in Europe that his father died trying to save him from the militants.

Amid conditions that seem to grow more apocalyptic every day, local missionaries in Latin America need either super-human stamina or otherworldly faith. A worker in Bolivia needed true grit to continue reaching out to a young man whose drunken rages had driven his family away. “Every time Pablo got drunk, he went home and hit his wife and children,” the leader of the native ministry said.

Local missionaries in Europe are counseling and praying with refugees from Ukraine traumatized by the invasion of their homeland. Besides needing food and other aid, many refugees have suffered the shocks of bombing and artillery fire since Russia invaded in late February. “Pray for their mothers and grandmothers who suffer because they have lost their loved ones, or have their children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters or fathers in the war,” the leader of a local ministry said.
